U18: Spain - Netherlands 2 : 2 (1:2)

2:2 Drawn on a (still) rainy Day

In a very exciting and diversified starting match the netherlands under 18 against Spain in a draw with 2:2. During rainy weather with particular snow the people saw a stirring game till end. Although in comparison with the U 18 Tems from Netherlands and Spain develops a match. At the beginning Spain could press the Dutchmens in their own half and compile chances over the right wing again and again. After two minutes Spain had the first penalty-corner of the game. But this high flicked ball could be saved by the marvelous dutch goalkeeper. Shortly after that next chance trough the middle attacker Olivia. His shot from a peaky angle past the goal in a very small distance. Slowly Netherland solved themselves from the spain clutch and take rule of the match. By the first counter offensive the dutch Bob de Voogd had the 1:0 on the stick. But he failed by stopping the ball coming by the right wing. In the eight minute it was the Netherlandes Mink van der Weerden, whoscored with the first and only penalty-corner. The spanish team semmed to be shocked! Their good game was interrupted. They lost their duells in middlefield again and again and Netherlandcould start fast attacks.

Dutch forward tackled by Spanish defence

One of this lost of the ball conducts to the 2:0 in the 17. minute, when Valentin Verga catched a long cross and scorde after a great solo in the long corner of the goal. In this phase you could think, Netherland controlled the match savely and wil win. Surprising was, that Spain scored the goal with leaves the side only one down in 28. minute through Alex Casasayas. A cross from the right could not be controlled by the dutch player, and suddenly the ball was in the net! The Netherlands tried to bring back the two-goal edge. But no goal would be scored. The second half started like the first half with a strong pressure from the spanish attacker. The dutch were in trouble but again the very good dutch keeper. In this phase the dutchmen nearly scored the third goal. A very nice combination out of thier own half was finished with a strong shoot to the spanish goal. The keeper of spain could saved, and the free-standig player Bob de Vooged could not bring the ball in the net, but shoot it over the goal in distance of 5 metres in front. After that Spain had had two penalty-corners, which were not be sucsessful. In minute 58. Roc Oliva get a yellow card because of foul. Everybody thought, the match will be end successful for Netherland, because of one man more on field, but Javier Garcia could brake down the dutch goalkeeper and sign the 2:2. Than began a strong pressure from the dutchmen. Spain was spiked in his own half! Netherland wanted to win! At the end nothing happand on both sides. 2 minutes before the end of the match end Netherlands captain Sjoerd de Wert received a yellow card for fouling. By the now complete team of Spain springed up the possibility for a goal-chance, but they failed. So the game ended 2:2.
