England started offence too late
In the first of two matches between ESP and ENG it was ESP to start better into the game, having the first chance in the 3th minute as Joan Prats shot was saved by the ENG keeper. ENG the playing better, Martin Scanlon with the first chance for ENG after 5 Minutes. Then the game becomes balanced, greaz Chance for ESP Lleonart. After 10 Minutes the first penalty corner and the first goal of the match. Josep Romeu flicks the ball into the ENG goal. 1:0 to Spain. ESP takes control of the game. ENG playing with long passes, but no bigger problems for the ESP defense.
After 18. Minutes the second game for ESP. Oscar Serra penalty corner shot brings the 2:0 lead to ESP. ESP is now playing more determined. Moreno shot hits the post in the 28th minute, another penalty corner in the 30th minute brings no sucess. After 32 Minutes the next goal for ESP. Guerrero scores for ESP. The first 10 Minutes of the the second half belong to ESP. Garcias-Chicotes backhand misses close. The the first goal for ENG. Griffith for ENG in the 39th minute. ENG is now more agressive, trying to return into the game. Again Griffiths, but he misses and the first ENG penalty corner without sucess in the 47th minute.
The the big chance for ENG after a fine solo by Hearne, but his cross finds no attacker. ESP now more concentrated, but two penalty corners between the 52th and 57th minutes fail. The second penalty corner for ENG in the 65th minutes brings the score to 2:3. Simon Faulkner scores. England tries everything in the last 5 Minutes, but all together the game ends merited 3:2 for ESP.
